Any creative add on's to the front?

#1 Post by GoFastr » Fri Sep 14, 2012 7:32 pm

Was lookin' at the front of the 1999 21' party barge i purchased recently, and noticed an interesting empty space over the forward nose cones just outside the front gate. That got me to thinkin' about how addtional deck space could be added over top those just aft of the tie rings whether it be a couple 2x6 or 8 boards or whatever.

I know some creative stuff has been done with these things, so this would a relatively minor kinda thing but has anyone done any add on's, if so what? Or.....is it a bad idea due to possible submarine issues?

I've been thinking of doing the same thing, adding a little bit of a swim deck/step/seating platform. My first thought was to use a couple of aluminum bleacher planks, which I think would work fine. A local swim deck manufacturer wants $65 per square foot to do fiberglass. I haven't checked a shop that does custom aluminum work and pontoon boat manufacturing.

Don't know how your trailer set up is, but on mine that additional swim deck would have to be removable to allow for the trailer bumpers to rest against the front of the boat (not a big deal for me since the boat is slipped and only goes on the trailer 2-4 times per year). Or I suppose the swim deck could be sturdy enough to handle the trailer.

Well right now i don't have a trailer for it yet. Actually looking to borrow one for a few days in order to do some maintenance I can't do hanging on the boatlift.

Where are you gonna get the bleacher planks from? haven't quite figured out what I'm gonna do, but it seems a waste of space right now.

What about modifying an aluminum folding ATV ramp? Strong, cheap, lightweight and approximately the right dimensions. Just a thought.
