Another use for a pontoon boat....

#1 Post by PlaynDoc » Sat Sep 15, 2012 3:49 pm

This week is Buggy Days, an event to celebrate the local town's history of being the "Buggy Capitol". It seems as though Barnesville, GA was quite a buggy-making town, and was booming - until that thing called 'the automobile' became afforable....

Anyway, here's my pontoon, being used as a parade float. My daughter attends Rock Springs Christian Academy. Students there are from age two through seventh grade... Here's how it went....

Great idea, does that count as "getting out on the boat"...? Looks like you guys had a blast.

Yep our small towns have a lot going for them. I went to Greensboro auto show yesterday. They just close down the streets and had it right in front of the courthouse, even had a band playing the oldies... My favorite was a 57 Chevy convertible with a continental kit. Lot of fun plus it was free.

Doc: My favorite weekend show around Georgia was the British Motorcar Show that used to be out at Chateau Elan. It's now moved to Berry College in Rome in May.

I had forgotten how absolutely breathtaking British cars are, and Atlanta has hundreds of incredible antique cars of all brands.

They are nice. The show did have an XKE 12cyl. Made me think of the two blonde twins from high school. One had a new Corvette and the other had a 12cyl XKE. They sold the XKE cause of the cost of insurance for her. There was also a Shelby Cobra. Pretty sure it was all original and wasn't a clone. Did see a 427 Chevelle. Remember them making one cause I raced one back from the lake almost all the way back to Atlanta on I-20. That was my best time from the lake to home. Fun and dangerous times back then.

Way neat, but how did you keep the motor from overheating?
