Yep...got my first dent in the right toon on the bottom out from Pettit Bay.
There I was cruzing along minding my own business when all of a sudden the right side of the boat slides up on a stump and drops back down into the water. I looked back to see anything and could barely see the top of it as the wake went over. Son Of A B@#$%!!!. I had a literally sinking feeling in my gut that something bad was going to come of this.
Yeah, I was favoring the west side, just barely off center of the channel but I had no clue there'd be a 27 foot tall tree in that area. Just glad it didn't go down the center toon and into the lower unit.
Can a tritoon sink?
I gotter back on the trailer and looking from the back down the little 1 inch angle keel along the bottom ..eh..it wasn't too bad. An ever so slight rise just past center. Whew!...I felt better.
Then yesterday..............................My wife is doing her inspection (only cause I mentioned it) and she spots a dent the size of my fist about half way back on the inside of the keel half covered by the bunk board. Here comes that gut feeling again. DANG IT!!. I didn't need to know this!. I ragged on'er a little for pointing it out and then laughed about it. We'd just came in from being out all day and I hadn't noticed anything different about the boat. So maybe it's not to bad. I'll use the front loader on my tractor to lift that side off the bunk and inspect further. Also think I'll drill the back of the toons and check for water. just put a screw with a rubber washer back on the hole.
Anyway. Just goes to show, even though I grew up on this lake it still has it's suprises.

Re: First Dent!!
Pretty much the exact same thing ours did. Top of tree hit mid way on the port toon an traveled to the end cap popping it off like a hub cap, I found out later on, once on the trailer. The entire toon was inundated with water. The boat listed to where the rubrail was still out of the water about 8 inches maybe. Pretty sure if it had not been for the center toon things would have went south from there. Just incase this happens to anyone else. Once you get back up to speed the water will leave the toon and the boat will right itself. Luckily I had left my trailer at the ramp this particular day. Oh, if you here a little bump might want to check it out. That's all, I felt an didn't seem like much out of the ordinary when it happened. Must have been a one in a million shot that it hit that perfectly an traveled the center of the tube that long.

Hey runner,
You remember a few years ago when they let it down to work on the dam? A little better than that. All the double wide ramps are closed, only the original ones that went way out are open. There are now two islands south of goat island. Needle point is at least three feet out of the water. The usual. Still okay for a veteran. I still feel like I didn't deserve the dent but you never know where the little bastards are hiding.
I was south of Goat Island standing on an ankle deep gravel bar one evening last weekend and I guess people think where there's a boat it's okay to pass through. This boat load cuts between me and the bank and I'm STANDING at the front of my boat. You got it. Twenty yards away, they ended up grinding their way thru, never even got there feet wet. I thought, must be a rental. Just as they left, a waverunner did the same thing. All the while, I'm walking the hidden gravel bar just to see how long it is. So I dropped an anchor to see what else happened. (maybe they thought I was Jesus and wanted a closer look)
I was fishing off the back into deeper water just before sundown and another boat joined me about 50 yards out. Believe it or not, here comes an a--hole wide open in a bass boat right between us.....AAAHHHHHH
the nerve of people!!. He had the whole freakin lake to the east of us! He had to practically aim for us!..so much for the sandbass I had schooled up between me and the other guy.
Anyway...The lake life is great
