Raising captains seat height

#1 Post by 1roadking » Sat Feb 02, 2013 4:23 pm

My Bennington doesn't have the raised helm so when sitting it is hard to see. Does anybody have a easy way to raise the seat height? I like the seat itself, just wish it was 3 inches taller.

Just get you a corn cob... stand it up on the center of the seat.... presto! raises you up every time you sit on it!

 You're gonna have to get an adjustable seat pedastal.

I have the raised helm and I still have trouble seeing around people who are sitting up front. I wouldn't mind being another couple of inches higher than I already am.

Thanks loyd, that looks perfect! My next issue is getting the old one off and putting the new one on. My bought has full underskin.

Take a careful look at the base of your pedestal on your seat. A lot of them have some sort of a release built into them. See these for examples: Springfield Hi-Lo Taper-Lockâ„¢ Pedestal or Swivl-Eze 238 Series Extension Post.

So changing it out may be a whole lot easier than it outwardly appears. :thumbsup

When I can't see over guest's heads, I sit on the throwable cushion, the coastguard wants you to have them close by ya know. heh.

I keep a throwable with 30 foot of small line tied to my helm seat, so can throw it and pull them in, you may never need it, but it will be just be sitting there out of the way in case you do

Works great for me. I sit on two of them for extra height. I've been considering having someone machine an extension for the pedestal to raise it about 3 inches since we've had the boat but the cushions work good.
