Snaps on Mooring Cover

The snaps on my mooring cover are extremely difficult to unsnap. This is only 6 months old and I have no problem getting the snaps to go on. Only difficult unsnapping. I broke two snaps already. What can I put on the "male" side to make them go on and off easier?

How about silicone spray? I know there is a tool, which I will probably get, but to me that is a bandaid. The real issue is that the snaps seem "too tight".

Graphite should work. Have also heard a pencil can be used, same substance. Most automotive carry speedometer cable lubricant which is basically graphite to. Got one of those tools, mainly use it to remove snaps but they say in the instructions it can be used to snap also, it works well.

I have a custom built full top with sides, probably more snaps then anyone else. anything petroleum based like WD40 works in the beginning but it will spread and stain your top and collect grit making it even harder, silicon isn't much better, I have even tried car wax. in the end the tool is the thing to use, it gets between the to haves of the snap so you can lever it off without putting any stress on the fabric. My tool is just a metal "kitchen spoon" works great, its fast, and your fingers don't get raw.
