Looking for pics of your toons with fishing set up

#1 Post by SoCalAngler » Mon May 27, 2013 6:24 pm

I have been setting my 'toon up for fishing since I purchased a few months ago. Added a batt charger for TM, FF ordered, and rod holders added.

For those of you that fish, I am interested to see how you have set up your 'toon for fishing.

I have installed several Driftmaster rod holders all around boat. I would like to see how you have set up your 'toon for fishing; specifically rod storage for use while under way.

I would like to store my rods vertical while underway and use my rod holders while fishing. Perhaps storage for a total of 10 rod/reel combos (in different places throughout boat is OK)

So, pics of your vertical rod storage would be great. I also would like to have a place for a knife and pliers storage at both the bow and stern areas.

Thanks!!

I have three of the four rod holders and they work great, they have a spot you can put a knife and pliers into. I have a pic you can see one place i have them here
(bottom right)

here is where I got them--

But I made a rod holder up front that will hold 10 or so rods, plus pliers or knife that I will try to get pics of tomorrow.
They work just as good at a fraction of the cost.
I carry many rods with me to cater to whatever is biting at the time.
i also have extra rods for when i am drifting and break off don't don't have to re tie on the water.
Here is a couple more of what I have, hope it helps.

look in the bottom right hand of this pic and it shows enough of the home made for you to get the idea--Just painted PVC pipe cut to your specs and clam them on a 2x6.

That's enough dang pics for now--

I have the fishing model pontoon and there is a built in rod holder by each of the three pedestal seats as well (don't have a pic)

These pics are great! Exactly what I was hoping to see. I'm trying to place the vertical holders in spots that are not in the way of fishing. I, too, take several rods/reels and several will be in vertical holders while I'm fishing.

Steve....since you take several rods with you when fishing, do they ever get in the way? I know on center console fishing boats they are usually up on a hardtop or around center console so they are away from the gunnel and away from the fishing around the boat. Wishful thinking has me fighting fish all the way around my 'toon!!! :biggrin2

Bob...I like the idea of having a rod holder right next to the driver seat. I may have to place one there on my 'toon.

The only time they cause a problem is when I throw the cast net or if I'm fighting a bigger catfish.
The bigger catfish doesn't happen but three or four times a year unfortunately-
The cast net problem is easily fixed by just placement.
The rods standing in the holders are wonderful though-not in the way and no more getting stepped on.

11 rod holders and a live well under the seat. Stick it pin shallow water anchor and a drift sock are on my wish list.
