Easy Pontoon Cover
I just purchased my first pontoon..an 08 Bentley 22ft with 60 Merc. I have it docked at a marina and it came with the snap on cover...I havent tried to put the cover on it while in the water but Im guessing its going to be a chore so Im looking to get an easier cover to put on while docked....any recommendations?? thanks!

They are a pain at first, but after a few times, you figure out what works best for you, and it gets to be 2nd nature. Have you priced replacements? You'll find yours does just fine, after doing so...

Re: Easy Pontoon Cover
When the boat sits idle for a week or better, we put on the snap cover. Otherwise we have what we call a "spider cover". It is basically a light nylon cover that we installed elastic t ofit, and added some small bungee cords. We made this cover ourselves.

If you put a bit of chapstick on the snaps they snap easier

Re: Easy Pontoon Cover
I was not about to spend $2,000 for a new fitted cover for a 1993 toon. A little thought and a tip to Harbor freight and I have a durable cover that keeps bird poop, sun and rain off while allowing fresh air in to keep things dry.
Total cost - $60, including 10 bungees. takes about 2 m ins to remove and store, and about 10 mins to install if I do it alone.

Re: Easy Pontoon Cover
I find the snap cover with the poles to work the best & easiest when the boat is IN the water. If you already have it, I would give it a few try's before buying something else.Lifesatripp wrote:I just purchased my first pontoon..an 08 Bentley 22ft with 60 Merc. Yep quality covers made from Sunbrella or similar are expensive but IMO theres no better way to protect your investment. I just had one custom made for my 24. It cost me $1125. from my local upholstery shop. I figure its a small price to pay to protect the 20K that's sitting under it.

Re: Easy Pontoon Cover
Check the price of new seats and taking the time to cover your investment will seam like nothing. I know I have covered many of seats it is not cheap to have it done or buy new ones. I have always covered my boat. A friend of mine didn't cover his. After 6 years mine look like new when I sold it. His while it is in the driveway because the seats have turned to dust. Save the money take the time and cover them.
Also thanks for the tip on the Chapstick going to pick up some today.

Re: Easy Pontoon Cover
Covering the deck was always a concern of mine. Until I bought my new excursion the cover for it is made to cover the front carpeted deck also.
