Just had my 90 hp 4 stroke mercury into the shop for the second time (only 32 hours on it) and found out that the fuel tank had 2-3" of water in the bottom of it. I only ever bought BP fuel. The last time I filled up (8G) must have been almost 3/4 water to have that much in the tank. New pressurized tank so it didn't come in from the gasket/valve side. I'm just glad the problem was related to fuel and not the motor.
Bought a 12$ siphon and will keep a pickle jar on board to make sure the fuel is clean in the morning before I head out. Other than this fuel problem, the mercury and suntracker has been working like a beauty.

Only bought BP but how many stations did you use. It's the stations responsibility to check the tanks for water before and after each delivery.

Same station every time. My mechanic recommended that so that you can help rule out problems with fuel...
Agreed - I am looking at a water separator, but it wouldn't have helped 3" of water.
BP has sent me an adverse fuel condition complaint form or something that I can submit my mechanics bill to for review. I'll post an update if I get anything back from them.
