Magma Grill
If you have a Magma Grill, are you having trouble controlling the flame ? Mine seems to stay at full on and really can't control the heat. Any ideas ???

Re: Magma Grill
without a flame, can you hear a difference in "hiss" sound of the propane at high and low settings?

I've always noticed that "low" on mine is not very low. It seems more like high, really high, and ridiculously high. I have to keep a close eye on food when I'm cooking.

Never had a single issue with my Magma (West Marine branded Magma)..going on 7 seasons. I'd check the tubing and regulator.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. I know I'm a bit of an insane griller...often flames shooting out of my grill when I'm working it.... but even so... that's just awefully close to gas. WAAAY too close for my comfort.
Just verified it on Snopes. Liberals are complete mouth breathing idiots.

Re: Magma Grill
That's why I always mount my grille at/near the bow and away from the fuel tank and motor

Re: Magma Grill
I received one of the square Magma Grills for a birthday present from my children. I need to buy a mount for it.
Are the single mounts as shown here sufficient for the larger grills or should I buy a double mount. There is a significant difference in price. I want to mount it over the water.
The company website shows both type mounts but states a double amount should be used if you want to grill while cruising with the boat. I will be anchored while grilling but I am unsure the single mount would provide sufficient support for the grill.
I haven't used it yet so I don't know if it will run hot or not. They bought the regulator accessory for it so I hope it does a good job of regulating gas flow.
Do you use the small canisters for the fuel or do you have a regular propane tank on it? One of the boats near my slip has a regular propane tank hooked to the same model grill I have.

Re: Magma Grill
IMO, the single post mount is sturdy enough. I don't think anyone would grill while underway
I use the small cans.

Re: Magma Grill
I'm going to get a square magma for my new boat, but I want to permanatly mount it in a cabinet like on some of the new boats... Do these grills get pretty hot around the bottom? Just trying to figure out a good way to mount it?

Don't know about the square ones, but the round ones get VERY hot on the bottom..

Re: Magma Grill
Even on low, ours was too hot for some menu items. Could never cook slow enough to get chicken done. Works for a quick burger or a steak. Haven't used it in years.

Re: Magma Grill
I've got a square one (forget which model) and it gets damn hot! I haven't mounted it yet, instead I just put in on the table that mounts in the boat. It's got legs so the grill bottom doesn't sit directly on the table and I haven't had a problem yet. All we've cooked thus far is hot dogs and Brats, so I can't comment on much else. But I do love it and it fits in the compartment under the seat.
