Transom Update

#1 Post by ezrollin » Wed Feb 19, 2014 12:46 pm

Noticed my new transom[ 2 pieces of marine plywood glued and urethaned was about 1/8 - 3/16 's thinner than the old one. A quick solution was to cut a template from an old stop sign, just need to drill bolt holes and seal. This should strengthen the transom and prevent the motor mounting bolt washers from trying to pull into the wood as it had on the old one.

No,I sanded it down. Didn't want law enforcement to stop me for sign theft ! It's going on the forward side of the transom, the side that has the washers and nuts so it wont be seen at all from the back.

Here's a pic with bolts installed.I realized that plate would be added protection against the motor falling-in should the wood ever rot.
