Not the best start to the season

#1 Post by TSip85 » Tue May 06, 2014 4:53 am

We had beautiful weather in the Dallas area this weekend. High around 85 with very slight winds. I left work early on Friday and spent a couple of hours cleaning the 'toon up nice purdy for our maiden voyage of the season. Saturday we had a sitter come over and watch the kids (this was going to be an adults only cruise!), the Admiral and I stocked up on booze and had my the Commander meet me at the dock. When we got there, my buddy had everything ready and had already lowered the boat in the water. Only problem I saw was that it looked like he didn't let the lift go all the way down. No big deal....I'll just lower it and we'll be on our way, right? Not so much...the lift was sitting on the bottom and my toons were only about 2" in the water. We were stuck on the lift!!!

Oh well, we mad the best of a bad situation. We did a little dry boating and fishing from the marina. The bass were spawning and there were plenty of friendly "neighbors" about, so we still had a good time. Would have been nicer to actually get out on the water, but I guess that will wait til next week.

Here's a couple bass I helped the Commander land from the dock:

That's it.... That's it..... Hold it closer to the camera, to make it look bigger. We call that "bait fish" down here. :rofl

LOL...no camera tricks. The first one went about 4-5lb and the second was around 7lb. BUT...definitely "bait fish" compared to what y'all have in FL! Bass are fun, but nothing beats fishing the Coast!
