KY Lake Area: Been to the drag boat races?

#1 Post by TN3Toon » Wed Jul 02, 2014 1:56 pm

I saw in the local paper that the Kentucky Drag Boat Assoc. is running the boats in Pisgah Bay this weekend. Has anyone here ever been? Is it crowded?

I wish I was gonna be there...I'm working doing the towboat thing but still on the water at least.

Where is it? Do you know a mile marker for reference? Sounds like fun!

Pisgah Bay is between markers 30 and 31. Same bay as the submerged quarry with all the graffiti on the walls...

Great! We're on the lake at the 36 MM! An easy ride over to the bay (we just moved down to here from the 11 MM so we're not familiar with much yet). Thanks!

Darn, thought you were referring to mile makers on recreational channel. The 30 MM on the barge side of the lake is about 30 miles from our new place.
Would take way too long to toon up there. Ah, but next year, we could get there ahead of time and be there to catch the action. :)

Where are you coming from? I'm not familiar with the recreational channel on KY lake. We boat mostly on Barkley but have been on KY lake a few times, Paris Landing or Kenlake Marina is usually where I'd put in over there. Pisgah Bay is about 8 miles south of the dam or 12-13ish miles north of Hwy 80. They are racing there again Aug 2-3. I wasn't able to get all the way out there this last weekend either. Too many obligations elsewhere...

The recreational channel runs down the other side of KY Lake, where a lot of the recreational boaters run instead of following the barge/commercial channel. Whole different set of channel buoys, mile markers.

We're about 2.5 miles from Paris Landing. Ken-Lake about halfway between us and our old place. Give us a shout next time you're headed our way! Cypress Springs resort has great broasted chicken/catfish (1 mi), and the Breakers is fun too. Beer's way overpriced tho!

We'll try for the Aug drag races. 8)
