need advice on a used motor

Just purchased a used outboard Yamaha C40PLR. It is a 2 stroke 2 cyl. engine. I'm trying to find some info on it online, such as oil/fuel ratio, service manual etc, but am having some trouble. Can you guys point me to the right direction?

also I checked nada price on this motor and it showed $775 for avg retail. Does that sound right? Seems kind of low to me, since I almost never see a working 40hp yamaha being sold below $1000 anywhere I looked.

Nada is not very accurate on boats and outboards partially due to the low volume of sales and the wide variance of conditions. I don't know about your particular engine (or the year) but 50:1 is a safe mixture for non-oil injected engines. My understanding is that Yamaha did specify 100:1 on some years but went back to 50:1 later on those same engines.
