Holy Cupholders Batman

#1 Post by trucky » Tue Aug 05, 2014 4:15 am

So, there are nine cupholders all around the boat, standard fare, plastic inserts, they hold your cups nicely. In the bottom of each cupholder is a hole, I'm sure by design to allow moisture to escape instead of growing science experiments. The problem is... where all those holes drain to isn't really where you would want it to. Two are into the helm storage, four others go into inaccessible areas. What do you do? Plug the holes and just bail the water out? Let it drain and fahgeddaboutit? My OCD side wants to devise a solution where they all drain neatly into the bilge like my old Sea Ray but it seems like overkill.

Aren't they setup so you can attach a hose to the bottom of the cup holder?

Yup... Mine have a little nipple on the bottom of them and on at least the helm cupholder I plan on either removing the cupholder or running a drain tube out from under the helm... While I was foolishly working on the boat in the rain I got to see first hand as the water dripped out the cupholder and directly on some wiring under the helm... Not so much worried about the aft settee as after all it is a boat and it is supposed to get wet...

Hmm, I didn't consider that angle. I'll have to pull one out and take it to Lowe's to see what they have... At least for under the helm.

Thanks for the suggestion!

My SB and now my Crest has the hoses already running through the floor. Surprised they do not all do that.

Maybe that was the "optional" package...

I haz a drill and some 4200. I can drill holes in this boat.

Mine all have hoses that run the water to the underside of the pontoon.
