Did some reading on them and the numbers look appealing. The look took some getting used to though. Was briefly disappointed that my new boat is coming with a 2014 ETEC and not the newly announced version. Ultimately, decided I would let the market work the kinks out of them and consider upgrading when it comes time to repower someday. Interestingly, couldn't find any stats comparisons between the G2 and the existing Evinrude Etecs. All their numbers were between the G2 and competing four strokes.

I've seen some UTubes of the G2 on a bass boat. The electronics are simply incredible. Power steering is standard, and you can adjust the "ratio" on the fly. You can start off, and the power trim will raise and lower according to your throttle setting--programmable.
And they claim it's got torque far superior to any other motor. It doesn't seem to be any faster on top end, but improved torque will sell some boats. And torque is something a tritooner needs more than a bass boat.
My only questions are How Much? And, is the lower unit going to stay together on this new motor?

The Evinrude ETEC Generation 2 Outboards announced last month look impressive on paper and in the videos. Lots more info can be found here

I have a 2014 ETEC 225HO which puts out unbelievable torque across the RPM range. Spoke to my dealer who was at the announcement/show and he said Evinrude will start shipping the new G2's this fall. I'm waiting for the dealer to let me know how much to upgrade to a new Gen-2 250 HO for the new Bennington.
