Deck coating vs. carpet

I have a 2007 Crestliner. It is in great shape, but the glue down carpet will finally be in need of replacement soon. Plywood decking underneath is in good shape. We use the boat throughout the year in northern CA, including winter trips to/from our houseboat, winter time fishing etc. Because it takes so much winter abuse, the carpet ends up very wet much of this time, so I am now considering scraping all the glue down carpet and coating the wood deck with a Durabak or similar type roll on coating similar to what is on our houseboat roof deck. This will provide a more durable flooring for winter time that I can easily hose down etc. then I would have snap in carpet sections to use in the summer for the nice sunny cruise and float days. Comments, pros/cons?

I use to hate watching the carpet drip for a day or more after use, so when we rebuilt we used the vinyl, it's dry by the time you tow it home

I also installed the vinyl from pontoon stuff. I am really happy with it. It was much thicker then the other samples I received from other sources.

I hadn't really considered vinyl flooring. I used Nautolex vinyl flooring on the exterior deck of our last houseboat and it was great stuff. In that application however it was wrapping plywood sheets 4' x 10' and then screwing them down. It is nice to see that this material comes in full width sizes (102") but I'm curious how was it to handle an glue down. Managing and getting all the air bubbles out of a piece of vinyl 102" wide and 24' long seems like it could be a challenge.

I Like My Vinyl Flooring!

It's easy to clean. It dries easy. It doesn't stain.

If we were to go buy another toon, vinyl flooring would be on the requirement list.

How hot does the vinyl flooring get during the summertime? We have a lot young kids that are on our boat & I would hate for any of them to burn their feet.

Doesn't get hot and is easy to put down, the glue is wet so you don't have to worry about trapped air, just rent a floor roller, to roll it flat
