Leaving the Pontoon world
I am leaving the pontoon world but will definitely keep reading this forum. The wealth of knowledge on here is better than most forums. I traded in the South Bay on a new (2013) Chaparral 284 Sunesta. My wife wanted bigger and a bow rider for the bigger water of Grand Lake here in Oklahoma. An almost 29' Bow Rider was hard to say no to. And besides, anytime she has an idea that allows me to get a new toy I'm always good with. Here is a link to the new boat.

Thank you. I definitely will stick around here if you will let me. I pick her up Saturday and it can't come soon enough. Just need to come up with a name now. Hmm

Re: Leaving the Pontoon world
Congrats on the new boat -- sorry to hear that awesome pontoon you had is going away. But being on Grand, I can very much understand. I wouldn't even think about taking our 22" pontoon with a 90hp motor up there -- it would be a very wet rough ride for sure. We have some friends with a place at Dripping Springs and even in their big cruiser, it was still rough. I'll stick to Eufaula (and stay on the south end of the lake where it isn't as crazy as farther north).
I guess you'll be bringing this new ride to the Arkansas River Trip this year? I think we are going to go with 2 other couples on one of their pontoon boats this year. Just waiting to hear when Chris has gotten the block of rooms set up at the Holiday Inn so we can get our reservation set up.

Wow, that Chaparral is NICE! I had a 29' Chaparral back in the mid 90's and just loved that boat. The new Chaparral boats are just incredible and in my opinion they are hitting it out of the park with their big bow riders. I bet you will love that boat. It's funny, the two favorite boats I have ever owned are my South Bay that I have now, and that Chaparral mentioned above. I think your taste in boats is impeccable!

Your taste as well! I absolutely love my South Bay but for obvious reasons keeping both is not economically sound judgement. Feasible? yes, smart? No. The price tag on the new one blew my mind. Spending that kind of money on a toy seems crazy. Oh well. Life is short right?

Good luck with the new boat. Lord knows if you are gonna play on Grand you best be riding close to 30 ft. Anything less and you are tossed like a rag doll, especially once the big boys start plowing 4 ft troughs up and down the lake!,!,!.
Guess that why we heathens, a.k.a. Poor folks are happy down on Ft. Gibson where pontoons rule the waters.

Will do. I plan on keeping this boat for a while. It's my first V hull or IO for that matter. 8.2 Mercruiser (380 hp) with DTS and duo props. Should be an interesting learning experience.

Congratulations on the new boat. My good friend (on my lake) has the comparable Cobalt boat with the 502 engine and DuoProps. He put about $4K in electronics on it, and it's nice to have weather radar on the screen.
Those big bowriders are very classy rides.
