Yippee! Yahoo!

#1 Post by NonHyphenAmerican » Fri Mar 13, 2015 7:24 pm

The toon is all 'tooned' up and ready to hit the lake.

We've had nice weather, so.....

Power washed the covers clean, double checked everything and let the covers get good and dry before buttoning everything back up and in its place.

Double checked the engine oil and lower unit.

Come Monday, I plan on taking it over to El Dorado Reservoir, launching it and putting it back into the slip.

After of course doing a couple of laps around the lake..... :fasttoon :fasttoon :fasttoon

Just thought an update was a good idea.

Got the toon to ElDorado today before the winds got too high.

Launching went well, it didn't sink. :nana

Wifey didn't back the truck and trailer into the lake like a sub. :prayer :scared :prayer

Took a lap around the lake. Everything worked like it's supposed to.

Temps hit 80 before we left and water temp was 45.

YEA!

Got back in to the slips and the wind was just coming up enough to get tricky.

(Wind got up to 25 with gusts to 30, glad I got in before they hit)

Got the toon tied up safe and everything stowed.

A nice old guy was fishing the slips and we struck up a conversation.

He got his line caught up under the slip and I helped him get it clear, along with a nice crappie that had hooked it up. ( I think if he'd have tried he'd have wound up wet)

He asked if I was going to fish and I told him I wanted to but had gotten a phone call concerning our daughter I was going to have to go take care of. (She's a "Special Needs" 25 year old that functions at about 9-13 depending on the day)

As a gesture of appreciation for me helping him out, he handed me a half dozen nice sized crappie to take home.

I told him I'd never have asked, but since he generously offered, I'd take him up on his kind offer.

Man that old guy was quick with the filet knife.

He started in filleting the ones he was giving me and then started in on the rest.

When I brought him a couple of gallon ziploc bags, he appreciated it and proceeded to finish cleaning up.

I put ours on ice in the cooler and told him the next time we were out, if he was there we'd take him on the lake with us.

The old guy smiled and said since he'd sold his boat he couldn't get to some of his favorite fishing holes and spent his time fishing from the slips as it was easier for him to get around.

I told him I'd trade him boat rides for fishing holes any time.

Think I might have met another fishing buddy.

Had the crappie for supper tonight and they sure were tasty.

All in all, a mighty fine day! :alright

Thursday the winds are supposed to die down to the 10mph range and mid 60's for temps.

Might have to sneak out to the lake again.......

The weather has been pretty nice lately. The wind picked up pretty badly tonight as they have quite frequently. We had the boat out on Saturday and hope to have it out frequently now that the weather has turned around. The wind has been pretty treacherous, however.

NHA, that's a good story! Sometimes you find friends when not looking for them.

I think I told you about my Charlie, We have the same issues. Good luck with your daughter.

Wonderful day at the lake today.

Cruised and fished for over 6 hours.

Water temps ranged from 48 to 54 degrees.

Made me glad we bought a toon last year.

Also makes me appreciate those here who've been so helpful.
