Need help identifying

#1 Post by Will » Tue Jun 09, 2015 5:08 am

Okay folks need your help here as you can see from the picture I have a couple of wires hanging down from my console, I know my trim gauge is not working, so I am wondering is it because of one of these wires not being hooked up or is it for my Fish Finder which I haven't really tried yet, I was just curious because it will be a tight squeeze to fit in there to follow the wire and I thought one of you experts might have the answer :prayer

Hate to be the bearer of bad news Will, but there is usually no substitute for a bit of research, some nippers for the zip ties, and some quality time in a pretzel shape when it comes to electrical troubleshooting.
Once you get some wires traced, hopefully it becomes apparent. I guess it is possible that some genius (we have a couple here) will recognize the wire colors or plugs, but I would say chances are slim.
Welcome to the wonderful world of toon wiring :scared

Because of factory options almost every boat, even from the same manufacture, varies. It looks like you have a Forest River product, so I'm GUESSING that the plug on the floor is for some sort of gauge (if there's a brown wire on it, you probably found the trim issue), the grey plug with black/blue wires looks like it should be plugged into the female grey plug in the bundle, and MOST LIKELY any wires with empty butt connectors on the end are there for stereo upgrades.

This is just a GUESS, and a place to start. Like tuned said, you just gotta get in there and start tracing wires. Once you get the bundle cut open and look at one wire at a time it really isn't that bad. Good luck.
Just one boat...after another, after another :-)

And we won't even get into the options powered by batteries and small two-cycle gas engines.
