Raw water washdown pump

#1 Post by COTTS4x4 » Sun Aug 02, 2015 4:07 pm

Has anyone installed one on their boat? I am looking at a true washdown pump with plenty of pressure, not a bilge pump. I've found a Jabsco hotshot 6.0 gpm - 70psi - 12v pump with hose, etc.

Anyone done this?

Thanks

I have a similar setup, one of the first mods I did to my boat. Plenty of pressure, works great.

I have the exact same pump. Attached is a simple panel I made with a 3/4 hose barb to 3/4" GHT brass coupler along with a Gardena quick disconnect. The rocker switch is a submersible (sealed) rocker switch that is fully potted which I got from McMaster Carr. I mounted the pump upside down to the underside of deck behind the panel. It pulls suction from the motor pod through 3/4" heater hose with a 3/4" hose barb to 3/4" NPT to a standard livewell basket strainer.

Be aware these pumps draw a lot of current. The specs that came with mine called for more than the seller's website listed.

Yep, I installed mine on a separate battery. Kids like to use the washdown pump and didn't want to kill my starter battery.
