Docking Arms for Pontoons

#1 Post by raylee » Mon Mar 12, 2012 7:26 pm

Today I saw a pontoon boat in a slip being held by two arms that were mounted on the dock, and attached to the "eyelets" on the front of each pontoon. There were spring lines on the back. Does anyone know what these mounts are called, who sells them, and any experience with them? I would guess they might only work with a floating dock.

No. The arms would be mounted on the dock at the bow, one for each pontoon. There is a "U" on the end of the arms that would fit over each side of the eyelet on the very front of the pontoon. A pin would go through the "U" and the eyelet to hold the boat. It keeps the boat from hitting the dock at the bow, and holds it from swaying side to side as well. The spring lines on the stern are mostly to prevent side to side, as the boat cannot move front to back due to the arms.

Are you sure these aren't home-made? I have never seen anything like that before.

I believe Overton's has the type of tie offs your asking about. Check out their web site.

The "arms" the WILD MAN found are a version of what I saw. The "arms" I saw were a single, adjustable arm instead of the "V", but the same idea. Thank you very much for all of the input and effort. I'll report on how they work if we decide to try them.

Try " www.BackItUpAndForgetIt.com "
It's similar to what u say but it mounts to the boat by quick release for sacking at any dock.
