Take into account the extra drive with the boat and buy whatever ends up being cheaper.

The horror stories people have about ethanol are just that....stories. Our entire state has ethanol in our fuel and you don't see boats failing left and right!

Illinois give credits? hahahahahaha :happy no. we dont get any break for gas.

So now the next question, why kind of fuel treatment do I put in? Last boat was a 2 stroke so I used marine oil.

Any treatment you would normally do is fine. There is no special treatment for fuel containing ethanol that does anything special no mater what they advertise.

With modern fuel injected engines and a tight fuel system you shouldn't have an issue. That being said my fuel lines are SAE J30R9 and I use Stabil Marine/Ethanol treatment along with this bad boy:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N9 ... UTF8&psc=1

Of course if moisture gets in a bad seal the filter cannot fix that.

FWIW: I had a muscle car sit for 24+ months with the same fuel in it containing 10% ethanol and stabil. It started right up and ran with no issues. I even siphoned the entire tank and put it into my 2011 Corolla without a hiccup. Yes ethanol is sensitive to moisture contamination, but a lot of what is gets blamed for is due to contributing factors.

So this is an important subject. Getting my new boat this Friday. Does this mean I don't need to worry about Ethanol in these brand new motors? Or do I need to go on a search for ethanol free gas stations around my town?

It's basically Naptha with a little bit of oil on it.

The fact that it says it treats ethanol means nothing. Basically, there is no additive that does anything for ethanol.

You don't. 10% ethanol has around 3% less BTUs in it that non ethanol so that is the only difference you will notice.

I'm not a chemist by any stretch of the imagination so I can only give you my personal experience.... at the beginning of last season I filled my boat up with ethanol free fuel... I also added a stabilizer called pri-g. Didn't use the boat all that much last season, so when spring rolled around this year, the fuel that was in my boat was about 13 or 14 months old... she fired right up and has been running great this season... I will say yes, there are ethanol treatments you can add to your fuel with ethanol, but if you can put ethanol free fuel in your tank, then you don't have to worry at all about it.. just add a good stabilizer and you'll be good to go.... just my opinion, if you're interested in locating ethanol free fuel, check out the web site www.pure-gas.org. hope this helps.

You don't need to treat it. The only danger of ethanol is if you get too much water in the gas, you get phase separation. There is absolutely no chemical known to man that will prevent this from happening or remove it once it happens.

You treat ethanol fuel the same way you treat non ethanol fuel. It does almost exactly the same thing. Main thing it does is add a little oil to your fuel to help keep it from oxidizing.

And the way you get water in your tank is if you have a broken seal?

after reading the article above, from Boats US on ethanol fuel, it looks like the most important thing is to
keep your tank full to prevent condensation.
Buy fresh fuel (see my earlier post in this thread)
Use fuel stabilizer for storage
optional to add fuel treatment to prevent oxidization
