Street Tooning Fad Sweeps The Colorado River Area

#1 Post by BoatCop » Mon May 28, 2012 6:03 pm

Had 2 separate incidents this weekend. Anyone think this is gonna catch on? :lol3

The first one was in Lake Havasu City and the second along highway 95 north of Parker.

When you can buy heavy duty ratchet straps for $20-30 a pair, I don't understand this stuff.
I do hear people say dumb stuff tho.

"This is heavy enough that it won't move around".

It won't stop moving or change direction when the truck/trailer does either.

My strap broke on Saturday also! We just thread it back through tied strong knot in it, I always have a rachet strap on it and with the steel safety cable and we were good. Not to say Paula and my daughter Cass weren't freaking! I said it is only 3 miles and I never go over 40! Made it fine and went back out yesterday no issues! :alright Pic is after strap broke before we cinched it back up.

I'm gonna have to guess that second one slid a little ways before coming to rest. Ouch!

Not really surprised, since the holiday weekends bring out all the "amateurs"...lots of stupid antics both on and off the water.

On the positive side, I'd rather weed these folks out before they make it to the launch and the water :lol3

Wow, I can't believe how many comments I get about "Over Strapping" my toon to the trailer. I Use 4 ratchet straps BESIDES the winch cable to hold mine down....... I bet 50% of the people I see pulling a boat out of the lake just winch it up an take off, seldom do I see people putting on transom straps.

We were watching a guy pulling a go fast boat yesterday that did not have transom tie downs. His boat was bouncing up and down aboput an inch every 30 feet he drove, and that was down the interstate. I hate to see what happens when he hits a "real" bump.

Yep...and how many boats don't come with straps installed from the factory ? My PC didn't. In fact, Bass Pro Shop's crew told me they weren't necessary when they saw me putting them on when I bought it. :x :x :x :x :x :donno :donno :donno

Those trucker style ratchet straps do a great job. The hooks are designed to go over a flat surface like the "C" channel in your trailer and when they are looped over the logs, that boat isn't going anywhere without the trailer.
You might even find one laying in the road ;)

It is worth pulling over for.
