Electrical problems and suggestions
I have a Suntracker PB SF22 2011. This past weekend we tried to go out on our local lake and found out that the interior lights were left on. The crank battery was dead.
I had the Marina try to jump the boat with a jump box, but they were unsuccessful. They then proceed to try and jump with a second box and it didn't work either. On the second box, we noticed smoke from the battery compartment and an electrical burn smell, so we stopped immediately.
I brought the boat home and recharged the cranking battery to full. Now, the boat won't power at all. None of the auxiliary components come on (radio, lights, etc...).
At the time we attempted to jump the battery at the marina, the auxiliary components came on.
I've checked the fuses on the Mercury motor and none were blown. Since it is under warranty, I called basspro and scheduled an appointment for service, but it'll be at least a week before they can take a look.
I called the the dealer who sold it to me and he said that power for the boat is separate from the motor and if both aren't responding to the battery, then most likely the battery is dead.
I have a deep cycle battery on the boat for trolling and plan to try that one in place of the cranking battery just to see if the boat lights up. If not, then I'm doubtful it is a battery issue.
Any ideas of what else I could possible investigate before taking it in for service?

Is that the 20 amp fuse right near the battery?

Re: Electrical problems and suggestions
I've attached a photo of the fuse, but I have a couple questions:
1. How can I determine if it is blown?
2. If blown, do I just replace whole unit?
3. If I have to take apart, how?

Re: Electrical problems and suggestions
A little research with google and it appears to be a breaker and not a fuse. There is a little yellow piece that swings out and appears to have the word "Reset" on it.
I can only assume that if it was tripped, then the yellow piece would be swung out and to reset I would just push back in.
So, without any more details, it appears this breaker isn't tripped and is fine.
Does that sound correct?

Solved and man that was a bit embarrassing. Once I charged the cranking battery, I must have connected it incorrectly, because when I reconnected the 20 amp and then tried the battery again it worked!
I know the breaker wasn’t tripped, so it must have been a stupid mistake when connecting the battery.
Sorry for the trouble.

I was just getting ready to say.... you have the accessory wires crossed on the battery, or both hooked to one post. This is a relatively easy mistake to make, and prevent.
Don't ask me how I know you had them switched....
