Where do you shop for oil filters? (2012 Suzuki DF150)

#1 Post by serpa4 » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:13 pm

I have a new 150 Suzuki 150 DF due for it's first oil change. The dealer is about 40 miles away and wants to charge me $25 for the filter PLUS shipping. I'll be buying online to save the drive since I have to pay shipping anyway.
Where do you all get small items cheap?

Get the part number from the filter and call a Suzuki car dealer and see if it's the same one they use in their cars. My Honda uses the same one as their cars and they are a lot cheaper than at a marine store or dealer.

That oil filter is the same one used in many, many domestic and Japanese automobiles--and even a Deutz tractor.

See the following website for dozens of cross reference numbers for your oil filter:

So, no issues with Fram? I.e I'd "assume" they have the same relieve valves etc. I have no issues with fram since they, with synthetic oil, kept my VW jetta literally flawless for 280,000 miles.

I'm not especially a fan of Fram filters, especially their cheaper filters.

What their website shows is the vast number of automobiles that use the same filter as this Suzuki motor.

Any boat owner can often go to their local auto parts store and cross reference a brand filter that may be a little better than a Fram.

You know, I almost feel guilty for saying this... I have been buying some really cheap name brand stuff off Ebay. I bought a case of Fram oil filters for my truck about 6 months ago for $18.00 free shipping. Etec XD100 oil thats $42.00/gallon for $12.00 I think the shipping on it was like $9.00. I just bought a brand new $450.00 Enertia prop still in the box, for my Premier for $50.00 and $15.00 shipping. I'm not sure if people are stealin crap and throwing it on Ebay to dump it, and I really don't care, as long as I don't get screwed and PayPal protects you if you do. But if you get on at wierd hours, like now, I just got home from work at 4:00 am and surf it for crap you may (or may not) need, you'll find some good deals. Usually no one else on at wierd hours to out bid ya, either. $30.00 Genuine Mercury Verado fuel filter for $15.00, free shipping??? I think I'll buy it! Good to have a spare!
