Addition of center tube - performance results..

#1 Post by rbiederwolf » Thu Jun 28, 2012 2:33 pm

Dealer just called finished the installation of center tube and a sea trial. FYI Dropped boat off Tues at 9am and finished sea trial Thurs at 10am. Hows that for gettin her done :nana :nana

Anyway, Performance report from dealer
Before: Lightly loaded - 24 mph - perfect conditions
After: Same Load with full tank - 26.2mph - unknown conditions ( I was not there)

I am going to pick her up tomorrow and test it myself. The center tube has lifting strakes, not the outers.
I will install factory strakes on the outer tubes in the next month locally. Dealer expects I will gain another 2-3 mph???

He says the boat sits 2-3 inches higher than it did, handling is great. :biggrin2 :biggrin2 :biggrin2 :biggrin2

It's probably much more stable too.

Hey, you need a 150 hp motor on that fine boat.

To be honest I didnt ask :nono :scared

However the dealer knows me well enough that I hope he would have mentioned this when he said it handles/rode great?????

I am driving up tomorrow to test ride it before I bring it home. To be honest I see no reason why it wouldnt. From what I understand the third tube with the lifting strakes should get it on plane faster than before since it sits higher in the water. I would think the addition of the lifting strakes, albeit only on the center tube, would make it plane faster. Additionally if it did not plane, I would think there would be no way to increase the speed from before, since essentially you would be"plowing" the entire boat through the water.

However this is all just speculation until I drive it tomorrow.

Wish me luck :thumbsup :thumbsup
