pole holders

#1 Post by killerkernrich » Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:36 am

I have 1.25 inch square rails would like to have couple of perm. pole holders. the perm base needs to be short not too much above the rail, so my playpen cover will still go on... so I need a removeable top part that holds the pole...I tried a cheap-O clamp on... not good. what are you guys using post a web link THANKS

If you don't have furniture up against all the railing you just can't actually beat the Scotty Square Rail Mounts for a secure pole holder. I had some a while back and yes my snug playpen cover would work over them, just pull the rod holder and leave the mount in place..

I'm thinking I'd have way to much attention from far to many boat cops if I were to have that particular pole mounted :rofl

I put one Scotty by the throttle and another on the rail front opposite side after I removed the 5 floor/deck screws and then the long screws through the railing to the front seat/lounger. I mounted the Scotty and moved the seat back into position but it is about 1 inch away from the rail now. Going to try it out tomorrow. Very happy with the rod holder by the throttle when you need an extra hand(s) My mooring and camper top work great as the top rod holder section lifts out for storage:2cents

Look at Cabela's pontoon rod holders. They fit 1 1/4" square rails and the price is right. The only problem i have with them is that the holders are a little difficult to remove from the bases. Ive been hoping that would correct itself with usage but two years later they are still too tight. Good fishing.

you can try some of these with traditional scotty/cabelas/basspro holders
scotty square rail adapter

or some of these, they are removeable with the wing nut on topt, just leaving the bottom part on the rail:
you have to buy the actual holder and base seperate as well, I like and have some of these
Rod Holder

Rod Holder Base

I have both but like the driftmasters better

I have a pair of lil pro driftmasters, pro driftmasters, and basspro with scotty bases
