Underside Sheeting (Where to buy materials in Nashville?)

#1 Post by Fanatic1074 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 3:35 pm

Hello guys i am looking to add sheeting to the bottom of my pontoon boat and am looking to see if anyone knows a good place to buy the sheeting around the Nashville area i would appreciate the input.

Anyone please set me straight if im wrong here. I was going to go with 1/10 in thick aluminum sheeting and steel rivets. (not sure if im going to do the rivets yet, thinking "what if i have to access the wiring at some point?") Ideas?

Does anyone know the weight that this will add? Im guessing between 50 and 75 lbs?

I know the theory of why this may be a good thing, but I've always been skeptical of the cascading damage that certainly could result with under-skinning. It really prohibits the plywood from drying by not allowing good airflow. (assuming you have a plywood deck) Or maybe I'm just too damn anal... :-)

Regardless, I work for a tubing company and we have a supplier in Chattanooga: Tioga Pipe Supply. They should be able to supply you with aluminum sheets and/or coil. (423-899-3398) . I know that's about 2 hours from Nashville. But maybe they could point you in the right direction.

Good luck.
