Is a 115 a big as those are rated for? Seems like a boat that big would do just fine with a 200.

I've seen a # of Tahoe/Avalon boats with the hardtop and slide-$25K without the motor. Pretty nice units, however.

T&M Marine north of Minneapolis has as many as 500 pontoons in stock at any given time and is the largest U.S. pontoon dealer--carrying Tahoe/Avalons. WOW!

Such dealers buyout stocks of going out of business dealerships and clear out the factories' overstocks. Question is whether they're willing to pass on the savings to the retail customer. Sometimes the boats are year old hulls.

I'd have to save big $ to drive that far.

They are rated for up to 150 HP. I have a 135 on mine.

well, according to the wife this thread is not dead yet. She has agreed I will not spend $50,000 on a boat we use on weekends, so I guess we will keep our eyes peeled for something used that would be in our budget and travel area.

Pontoons with upper decks or enclosed cabins are engine rated lower then their single story counterparts. The 27' Crest Upper Deck tri-toon we use at work is only rated for max 150hp while an identical boat without the top deck would be rated up to 300hp.

When I asked Crest about this, they explained that the upper deck weight raised the center of gravity which affected stability, hence the need for a lower hp rating.
