Mercury motor update #44 nah! just 4 or 5

#1 Post by gramps » Sat Jul 28, 2012 4:42 pm

Well we got the boat back late yesterday and the wife & I launched it and took it out for 5 minutes and it ran good. Today we went out for a long ride and it ran good. Yahoo!!
They said that the throttle linkeage came out of it's holder and that's what was causing the problem. The Merc Tech guy showed up and supposedly went over the motor with the dealer. It took 9 days to get it back to me, I feel like half my summer is gone.

The Merc Tech Mgr. told them to put on the Enertia prop that I have been recommending to the dealer for over a Month, it's the prop that Merc is using on all their 150hp 4 strokes motors. The prop is a 3 blade 15 1/8 x 14 ss I gained 2 mph but no increase in rpm's.

The prop and motor runs smooth and I'm happy, it's possible that my motor may be a tad low, but I'm satisified with the way it's running and I don't want anyone screwing with it. We will be going out twice this week and I hope all my problems are done with. :nana :nana :nana :nana

Hi Gramps.... I know it's been a pain in the butt getting your merc issues resolved, but at long last it looks like your back on track. No point in lamenting over the past now, just enjoy that new boat and motor... very happy for you and your family...

Good to know, ever since my Optimax had its powerhead replaced this spring it mazes out at 5200rpm regardless of whether I use the 14 x 13p or the 13.75 x 15p prop. I have suspected the throttle but don't know where/how to check it.

As wolf said, time for you to go

The one thing that I learned about props is that they are like Women, you never know what they are going to do. :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 :lol3

Seriously, the prop gurus can tell you that if you do this the motor will do that, that is not always true as you & I have learned.
