Underwater LED lights...

I want to add blue LED underwater lights to the rear of my pontoon. I have a bracket on the rear of each pontoon to mount them.

From searching the web they run any where from $60 - $500 and up.

Strictly for money reasons I am leaning twords the ones for 60 however not sure how much light I would get from them. The next step up is about 180 each. Here are both links

I've seen these on our lake, and they look pretty cool. On my old pontoon I had a couple of cheap fog lights mounted to the beams in the middle of the floor pointing down into the water to attract bait fish. They made a pretty cool glow around the sides.

From a previous post, I'm thinking about adding this under the boat, but out of the water. I can use it at the dock as a fishing light, and at anchor too.

I was wondering about that. I do see many boats (mostly expensive center consoles) at night cruising with them, however doesn't make it right if it not legal.

What ones do you have, and how/where did you mount them? How long is the wire they come with?

I have one double light mounted to the end of each toon. I used 3M 5200 to attach and they have held tight for three years now. If you have room on your transducer mount, you could use screws to mount but I didn't want to drill any holes. Each light comes with about 30'' of sealed and protected wire so all connections can be above water. I have had them on at night and passed right by a TWRA (Tn. boating police) boat and they just waved. As long as they are at the rear of the boat and underwater, I don't think your going to break any laws.

It all depends on who is looking. I bet a USCG team would have a different opinion. You are really just supposed to be showing your running lights. Colors are more troubling than white lights, particularly reds and greens.
I bet "State" agencies will be more interested in BUI, life jackets and illegal fish than actual nautical things.
