rear boarding ladder
I have a 2005 suntracker and my son and family managed to break the rear ladder. Busted 2 steps off of it. it originally was a 3 step folding ladder with handrails. been all over the net looking for a replacement, but can't seem to find the model I need. Question : Does anybody use the 3-4 step non folding ladders that seem to be all over the net. They are permanent I believe. Do they interfere with the operation of the boat. Any info would be helpful. I going to try getting hold of tracker on Monday, but if I get some favorable comments I just may forget about Tracker.

Re: rear boarding ladder
Thanks to everyone for the info provided. I guess I didn't word the question properly. The web is full of 3-4 NON-FOLDING rear steps, My question is does anyone use this type of ladder, is it as permanent as it appears in the pictures. Does it affect operation of the boat????????? Thanks

Re: rear boarding ladder
Yeah I'd like to know the answer as well. I'm thinking just using basic physics of drag, that a permanently down ladder dragging thru the water would scrub a little off the boat speed and fuel economy. I would think depending on how deep in the water it is, that it could affect steering as well.
I would like to extend my hinged stock ladder so that it's easier to climb out for everyone. Right now you gotta sorta put a knee on the lowest rung then pull yourself up. Folks a little overweight or with bum knees would have a hard time climbing out making it not fun to swim off of.

Re: rear boarding ladder
Why not cut and hinge the ladder? If you leave it down the drag will prob tear it loose if you used it that way

Dave, that looks like a real nice ladder -- looks very sturdy and good wide steps.

Re: Rear boarding ladder
I like that ladder, especially the length compared tot he stock original which is at least one step too short. How easy is it to pull up out of the water? Is there a cable or some other type line off to the side to pull it up once you're onboard? Or do you have to reach down and pull it up?

I have a short line tied to the bottom. I pulls up very easy that way.

Re: rear boarding ladder
This thread was super helpful!
I orded a curved 4 step ladder section from greatlakesskipper.com
I installed it today what a great improvement over the 2 step section.
It fit great on my "Advanced Metal Fabs" Ladder that came with my Manitou. I think the 4 step ladder was made by same company.
Very happy with the advice.
Only think is I think the ladder sold by greatlakesskipper are new and unused but might be factory seconds. they were honest showing marks in ad... but I did have to file some spots, and had one ding which I could not do anything about.
