The Spring of 2012 was pretty windy in the Mid South, and waves were high.
The early Summer brought the worse drought in over 85 years, 100 degree + temperatures were record setters week after week. Wind and waves were very high.
July brought rain virtually every afternoon with temperatures in the mid 80's, and storm waves were not conducive to good boating.
Mid August has brought highs in the mid 80's, lows in the mid 60's, and absolutely calm winds. This week has been the best boating weather I've seen all year. The skies are bright blue, the trees are bright green, and the sunsets are brilliant as the sun has begun to move to the south.
My only question is where are all the people? I've been the only one out on the lake in the last two days until about 4:00 p.m., when maybe a dozen boats come out. And, our 16,000 acre lake is in the middle of 4 towns with 140,000 people.
To our Floridian friends: Hopefully your tropical storm will go by fast, and you can get back on the water. Be careful.

Yep, we went out after Debbie did us, and found tons of sea urchins and scallops all over the island. It shifted the bottom contour also.

Re: INCREDIBLE BOATING WEATHER
After Charley we found 3 big planters, one the next day and the other two over the next couple weeks. The first day out we also found a half dozen lift motor covers. I went around like Johnny Appleseed throwing one up on everyone's dock who was missing one. We got a couple lawn chairs and an umbrella. We also picked up about 100 gallons of trash but you have to take the good with the bad.
