Another prop to try! Updated 3/28/13
Just sold the 4 props from old Manitou's Etec. Now the Premier has 4 for the Verado. A prop for every purpose! Going out in the morning to do a test for Mercury on the Quicksilver Typhoon, (or The Mercury Vensura). They want to see what it does on tritoons, compared to the Revolution 4. Its on and ready to go! For my own test, I wanna see how it compares to my Enertia. Best prop on the Supercharged 310 horse beast yet. As Tool Man Tim says..... ooh ooh!
Anyway, don't ask why I am such a glutten for such fun punishment. The old racing days just keep haunting me! (I guess)
Will keep ya posted.
BTW, Thanks for the new prop, Merc! I love testing stuff and getting to keep it! Almost pays for my fuel expense! (almost...)

Re: Don't even ask how I got into this one.
God, I hope not, thats on my own dollar, now! Warranty expired in July! I'll keep it under 6400 R's, or until the rev limiter hopefully kicks in!

I wonder what the guy who ran 3 300 Verado's at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout last year was using?
He's supposed to be back. I'll be doing patrol duty on Sunday so maybe I'll get to see him. I think he did either 107 or 109 mph last year.

It will be in the water, today. I'm at home in Iowa, the river is almost flatter than my first girl friend! If I end up out of the water at all, it would be on top of a wing dam. The water is very low. The barges on the Mississippi are being loaded to 1/2 capacity, to compensate for the low water, and are still striking bottom in places.tuned wrote:It will once you go airborne
I can't make it to the Shootout this year. Could you do me a favor? If you take your camera, can you take a picture of Jim Dorris' new Playcraft for me? Supposed to be taking the new model with the dual windshields on the water. Not sure if he will be in the Shootout with it, but its supposed to be floating around. I think it was a South Bay w/trips. I would love to see them running. Any pics would be great!bassn386 wrote: wonder what the guy who ran 3 300 Verado's at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout last year was using?

Re: Don't even ask how I got into this one.
Ok That prop wasn't the greatest. 26% slip at 6400 RPMS, 45 MPH. Into the Rev Limiter at 6600. Not good for my application. At 3000 RPM's, 23 mph at 18% slip. It was a stern raising prop, if the motor was deeper in the water, maybe would have been better, but then with the L/U drag, hard to tell. The Enertia is still the winner! Next is the Detwiler Jackplate. Then more props! 1 Turbo and a Stilleto!
After that I got 152 pairs of EzFenders processed, all of last months bookwork and 5 Bud Lights & 2 Bud Limes, processed as well. What a way to spend a day on the water and in the sun! I love my side job! Now back into the plant on Friday.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Re: Prop testing, done! That one was a looser!
Nice jobs testing all them props. I'm curious to see how the Turbo 1 works on a pontoon, that was my "Goto" prop on my boats, good at everything but not the best at any single thing. Great all around prop if you will. I kept a 14x18 Turbo 1 and plan on getting it rehubed for the zuki df115a when I pick one up (though the dealer has current DF140's on clearance making room for the 140a's)

Re: Don't even ask how I got into this one.
I posted some photos of Tooned In (trip 300 Merc's) after last years shootout. I didn't post the twin whipple powered Playcraft that I saw at the docks. Probably won't be going this year as the Bosslady is ailing. But will be watching on TV. I beleive, if anyone is interested that it would be broadcast on the internet.Bryden24shp wrote:It will be in the water, today. Sound like a good deal with merc furnishing the props. Which prop that you have tried came close to the enertia performance.

OldePharte, Yes I am interested in the Internet showing, whats the website?
dockholiday, The closest so far is the 19 Mirage Plus, but it pushed the RPM's a bit too low and the slip was about the same as the Enertia, A 17 Mirage Plus had the RPM's in range, but the the slip came in at 16%. The 17 Enertia is the winner, so far, at 6% slip. I may get my hands on a 19 Enertia and spin it once. But, next will be the jackplate, because all the propping will have to be done over again after its installed. Which is no big deal. Just time and fun in the sun. Will probably put the jackplate on this fall. Don't see myself getting out much in the near future. OT at the plant is kicking in again.

Re: Re: This one was really junk!!!
Left the Typhoon on and took it out again today with the wife and her BGF, both put together may weigh 250. It cavitated so bad, I had to stop at a sand bar and put my Enertia back on. Went back at about 4400 RPM's 22MPH and 1.9 GPH fuel to look at the cavy plate. It was buried about 2" under the surface. 44% slip and the girls were in the bow! This one is going back to Merc! Absolutely Junk on a Tritoon. Especially to be called a stern rising prop. Sorry guys, Thumbs down! Even though its mine for the testing, I don't want it in my stable. Hope they will send me something better to play with!
Might be good on a 21' Champion w/ a 275 Verado, but not a 25' Premier, 36 PTX w/ 310 hp Verado.

Re: Prop testing, done! After today, Complete P.O.S.
Sounds like you are well on the way to getting it dialed in. First prop I tried was the mirage plus 17 just didn't have the hp to spin it, that's when I went with the enertia. Best of Luck going forward. Don't work too hard.

Re: Another prop to try! Updated 8/30/12
Before I put on the jackplate, I'm going to run a custom 17 pitch Tempest Plus design. The leading edge has been sharpened and the trailing edges were just tweaked with alittle more cup. The outside tips were pulled back just a hair. Its supposed to work well with moderate transom heights. I gotta send this one back, though.
Should be here next week! I have next Friday off to play with it!
I'll keep ya posted!
