top deck?

#1 Post by LVjayhawk15 » Sat Aug 25, 2012 9:50 am

So the wife and I are (still) looking for 'our' toon to show up, but we did start seeing some with the upper deck on top. The question we have is 1-are they easy to take down? We are going to rent a storage garage and it wouldn't fit a bimini top, let along a top deck.
2-If we figure out the storage piece (outside if we MUST), are there 2 different mooring covers, 1 for lower and 1 for top deck? How does that work?
3-For those on there that have a top deck- how often do you use it? Is it 'worth' it?

ps- the suspense is killing us! Cant WAIT any longer! LOL

You'll often see fixed decks on Premier and Avalon boats, and some have water slides. One model is also a couple of feet wider than a normal 102".

When you put a pontoon/tritoon on a proper bunk style trailer, they're pretty tall--even without a deck. I would think they'd be pushing 13' tall with a fixed deck. Finding a garage or storage with that much ceiling would be difficult.

When you have a pontoon boat, you just have to consider the logistics. My boat house is 18' x 30' and my 24' boat barely fits--given I need some overhang to keep the engine out of the weather.

We have an upper sundeck on our Playcraft. My sons and their friends use the upper deck to jump off of, my wife loves to read up there, and we store our kayak up there. Its pretty big and adds a LOT of weight. But we love it!

Yep. My PC is exactly 13.5 ft from ground to upper deck rail. I had to buy the biggest carport available to house it. Next year, I plan to built a pole barn and that's got to be big.

That being said, once you go to a 'toon with an upper deck, you never go back :rofl :rofl :rofl

Is 13' a pretty 'standard' height if you all were to guess, for hard tops?
Also, is there any concern with just driving it down the highway? Obviously, it will catch more wind than usual, but other than that, any issues with the hard top? (One of the lakes we go to is 90min away, 30min of it is on highway, then its 2 lane highway from there on)
