12 Volt Blender
Just wondering if anyone has used a 12 volt blender. Are they powerful enough to chop up ice to make "frozen" drinks?

This thing would need a starter motor to duplicate a decent blender.

I can't help with your question PeaceRiverRider but if I may piggyback a question it could tie in with yours.
I have been wondering about a power converter for a coffee maker myself, I wonder if a converter could be used for your blender also?

Yep, we have one of the Daiquiri Whacker gas powered blender. It does a great job on frozen drinks - but it can be a little messy. Ours is one of the originals - we've had it for about 7 years. The biggest problem is there isn't a clutch or any way to disengage the drive shaft. So the blender pitcher must be in place and ready before you pull the starter cord (its a homelite weedeater motor). Maybe they have fixed that on newer versions. We didn't like using bagged ice because it just watered down the drink. Using good solid ice from your home ice maker makes the best drinks. Or you can use frozen fruit like strawberries in place of ice. The cool thing is the motorcycle handle bars and throttle - you can really rev that thing up - and it gets lots of attention.badmoonrising wrote:Jim (username lightpants here) has a 2 stroke powered blender.

Re: 12 Volt Blender
I have a 800 watt continuous 1200 peak inverter that we have used for about 5 years. It works great with a regular home blender (450 watt) with a plastic spigot for dispensing daqueritas.
Re: 12 Volt Blender
We had one for several years, with mixed results. It never really did the job of the AC blenders, and the motor finally burned out. Too many margaritas, I guess.
I think I'll go the inverter route with a conventional blender next time.

Re: 12 Volt Blender
We had the Coleman one and it did okay. Our biggest problem was the ice melting before we got a drink made. We just went to drinking our magaritas on the rocks, it was alot easier.

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people.. I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.

We have the corded model. Works fantastic! Does the battery powered version seem to do as good of a job? If so, I see another one for the boat!Thin Ice wrote:We use this:

Re: 12 Volt Blender
I looked into the 12 volt or 120 volt coffee pots and inverters, and decided it was a lot simpler to use a Coleman propane coffee pot and that works real good.
If it aint broke your not having enough fun

Re: 12 Volt Blender
I built this little thingy a while back. It eats a full bag of ice (or two) in about 3 seconds flat. Chops it as fine as a good resteraunt blender.
Powered by a 1/3 HP garbage disposal (new of course). Makes 3 gallons at a time, nicely insulated.
I fire it up at home and then just bring it along.
