bstat1020 wrote:@bryden24shp - our port of call is the Savanna Marina. We dry dock the toon there. We usually hit Sebula Lake, Santa Fe beach, and maybe head up to Chesnut Beach in Pool 12 on a nice day. There is a big bar there called Offshore on the Iowa side that we sometimes go to as well. We have not headed south of Sebula too much yet. The Army has been dredging a lot this year so they have made several new beaches in the Savanna area. I would love to meet up with you some weekend. I would like to see those shiney toons you have in person! I will shoot you a PM.

I just bought a plastic Rubbermaid container for washing the feet and going back to the store today to get a two step plastic folding ladder. This one has some larger feet on it so I dont think it will sink into the sand too much and become unstable.
Offshore is awesome! I know the water very well in that area. Grew up around Sabula. Gonna lock through 13 in a few weeks to do our Fall Toon Cruise, to East Dubuque! I'll let ya know when we go and we can met up!

That's exactly what we do also. At times we use the step ladder for the side entrance. Find one that folds flat and not a problem storing.

Everyone either washes their feet in the 3 gallon bucket I put out front, or they climb in a ladder which I put in a side door, washing their feet off before entering. Or they get shot.

Aren't blood stains harder to get off the rug than a little sand?

Not with a deep burgundy carpet. Besides, the pink mist would float downstream. Good turtle/catfish food.

i try to encourage everyone to swim to the back ladder. my youngest is 7 so i'm not as worried with them swimming back there. i do keep a cheap wallyworld 2 step folding ladder and a tupperware type rectangular bucket for rinsing feet when we have grandparents aboard or when its too cold to get in the water. like everyone else has mentioned, i just put the ladder in front of the boat with the bucket next to it to "wash" your feet. my front bow filler cushion seems to discourage entrance on the bow as well.

I keep this onboard for just such occassions. It can skin a cat at 30' so you need to be careful around the little ones.

Oh ! Then we'll all just go there ! ....you don't mind if we all use it do you ? :biggrin2

I was thinking a LONGER solution, a half-length pivotable (up or down) gang-plank.
