Need a sunpad hinge engineering solution

#1 Post by pote » Mon Sep 24, 2012 7:32 am

The aft sunpad on my 2008 Starcraft has a 29" offset piano hinge that attaches it to the frame. When you raise the pad up to access the engine and fuel tank, or trim the engine too high, the cushion binds against the next cushion forward. I'd like to change the hinge out with a new hinge that allows the sunpad to still flip up, but also to be easily removable when I need to service the batteries, fueltank or take off the cowl.

I'm imagining something along the lines of this

or this

but it needs to have an offset to replace the function of a hinge like this:

Anyone got any out of the box ideas how I can make this work better?

Thanks

I like the "pre-rusted" look of option 1!

"Trine SS Cape" (Trying 2S Cape)

I'm not a liberal, but I play one on this site.

I'm thinking I like this one - wont slam down on me when I tilt it up:

And this guy looks like he could make about anything I need:
