Live well pump wiring loose
I noticed some dreaded corrosion near the pump for my live well. The pump is underwater on the back of the port side pontoon. I checked the wiring and found that the ground wire had come loose from the battery so all I had was a red power wire connected to the pump. This is exactly where I had my issue last time, a pinhole leak. Was this the likely cause?

This should result in 7 pages of discussion of the merits of tinned vs untinned wire, and all manner of connectors.

Were there any teeth marks on the wire?

Let's ask Greg, maybe he's got some duct tape to fix the hole ???Ron Burgundy wrote:I noticed some dreaded corrosion near the pump for my live well. I just want to say I was making a joke(obviously). It was not to disrespect Greg or Ron. I have the utmost respect for them. They have been helpful to me and I am grateful.
I don't think this thread should be sullied with the kind of nonsense that went on in another wiring thread(from which I was trying to glean a bit of knowledge). It was disrespectful to the original poster of the thread as well as some of the participants. It bordered(if not crossing the line) on bullying.

Re: Live well pump wiring loose
That's the problem with the truth. The party that loses the debate always claims "bullying". I give advice here based on my experience and training and back up my statements with facts.
So am I supposed to just not say a word and let someone give bad advice that ends up hurting, stranding or killing someone ?
I was joking too (above). That's the problem with America these days, no one wants to speak up and when someone does, it's "bullying".

Re: Live well pump wiring loose
If you want me to sugar coat was Greg does by saying "that's awesome Greg, use a non marine starter, that explosion it caused was cool". That's not me. I see bad advice, I'm going to call it out. Life's not a popularity contest. If people have a problem with the truth, then log out and don't read it. It's that simple.

I disconnected the power wire at the fuse for now. At least the wire isn't hot for the time being.

Re: Live well pump wiring loose
This is my last post on this thread about what I said. If you would like to start a "trifling" thread, I would be content to continue there. Let's not trash this thread.
As far as I know, I am the only one that mentioned bullying. I was involved in no debate. Just my observation as a bystander. I have absolutely no skin in that fight whatsoever....and don't want to.
The only thing I "asked" of you was to not sully this thread(and I apologize to Ron for my involvement) and how did that work out?

Re: Live well pump wiring loose
So you think there was arcing that caused the pin hole? or the pinhole caused the corrosion?Ron Burgundy wrote:I disconnected the power wire at the fuse for now. At least the wire isn't hot for the time being.
