Anyone with a new Trailstar trailer

#1 Post by waterlab » Wed Oct 10, 2012 8:09 am

As of June 28 2012, Tracker Marine LLC, will begin a recall campaign including nearly 600 boat trailers. The recall was put into action because of a welding issue affecting the brake actuator shell. Approximately 600 units are effected and owners of the boat trailer models included in this recall will be notified in the near future. The boat trailer models included in this recall are model year 2012 and 2013 Trailstar Nitro 290 Sport, Nitro Z7, Nitro Sport Z7, Nitro Z8, Nitro Z9, Tahoe 195, Tahoe 215, Tahoe 22, Tahoe Q4, Tahoe Q5, Tahoe Q7, and Tahoe Q8 boat trailers. A variant bracket weld in the brake actuator shell may limit the master cylinder shaft rod’s range of motion, potentially causing the brakes to overheat. Overheating may lead to wheel bearing or brake failure, increasing the likelihood that the boat trailer will become involved in a collision causing serious injury or death. This recall, scheduled to begin early next month, has been issued voluntarily in cooperation with a request from the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Owners of boat trailers affected by this safety recall, designated by manufacturer as recall campaign number TS-0027, can return them to authorized Tracker Marine dealerships, where they will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired by licensed technicians at no cost. For more information regarding this recall, contact Tracker Marrine LLC’s customer service department and reference the campaign number listed above.

I have a 2012 Trailstar, although the one for the Sun Tracker isn't listed.

But I WILL keep an eye on the brake actuator area for signs of anything funky.

The recall doesn't appear to be on pontoon trailers. These trailers are for fiberglass full hulled boats and bass boats.
