Re: Fuel line problem
I picked up a new silver Clark spoon, and a shiny Got-cha lure along with the fuel connector. They are supposed to be mackerel slayers so if I find a hungry school I'll send some your way.

Re: Fuel line problem
on the subject of fuel lines, I overheard some guys talking at bass pro shop the other day... they were talking about ethanol and the effect it can have on the actual fuel line... Overheard one man say you could buy "special" fuel lines that were made to with stand the effects of ethanol. Is this true? If so what are these lines called and how often should you change them out... I use an ethanol treatment in my fuel, but I've never changed a fuel line out and I"ve had the boat now going on 3 years....

Re: Fuel line problem
This is what happened to the labeled "ethanol safe" fuel line that came factory on my Party Cruiser. I replaced it with ethanol safe fuel line without the plastic liner...even so, my marina tech says to replace fuel lines every few years.

Melted bits of plastic ended up getting past the fuel pump, water separating and carb bowl fuel filters. Blocked up my carb. BoatUS paid for the damage.

Re: Fuel line problem
My last boat we had for 6.5 years and never had a problem with ethanol but I used Startran at every fill up plus we run our boat year round which might have something to do with not having any problems.ROLAND wrote:on the subject of fuel lines, I overheard some guys talking at bass pro shop the other day... they were talking about ethanol and the effect it can have on the actual fuel line... Re: Fuel line problem
I use Startron blue every tank of fuel and still had issues. 2007 our marina had a little over 100 boats with ethanol issues (out of just under 400 boats).

Bmr / Just laxin.... thanks for the replys... think I';ll have my fuel lines changed this coming spring when I get the boat ready for the season.... Just got a phone number for a guy who is a boat mechanic and works out of his shop at home... gotta be a lot less expensive then using the dealership...

Re: Fuel line problem
I'll probably be chaninging my fuel lines soon too. I've already changed most of the other fuel components. Looks like an easy DIY job.

Re: Fuel line problem
Because of this thread it will be something I will be watching for, like Ron B. said it looks like an easy DIY job. The only reason I guess why I haven't had a problem with our last boat may be cause I boat year round. Thats all I got there.
