How high fence panels on gates?

#1 Post by MichaelB » Mon Oct 15, 2012 5:56 am

I'm replacing my fence panels. Before, they came up 15" from the deck, and then were open for the remaining 10". Seeing the new toons with the panel going to the top, we decided to go that route. This should provide more protection for the new seats, and will reduce splash.

We've got three gates on the toon - one on the bow, one starboard, and one port. For those of you with panels that come to the top of your fence, does the panel do the same for the gates, or does the panel only come halfway up?

I'm thinking of taking the bow panel halfway up to provide some additional forward visibility. It doesn't matter much when putting it on the trailer as we keep that gate open during loading. But really, I'm not sure. I'm seeing pictures of toons configured both ways.

I think 8 foot with concertina wire on top is the standard.

Wait...this IS the prison forum, right?

On the gates and rails the panels go to the top on our SouthBay. That was one of the things we were looking for when we bought our Toon, so the back side of the lounges isn't exposed to the sun.

BobG... Good one! :nana

The panels on my Premier go all the way up on the starboard side. The port side goes all the way up. except for the gate and the side panel behind the helm, the top is open and the top of the front gate is open.

Here's what about a week of cleaning and polishing did... (and several :drink4 )

I just bought some side panel tin, railing and matching paint. This winter its going to get a little makeover.
As always... I'll keep ya posted!

Ya, Bob. We love it... Thats the reason we left Manitou. We had one in the works, but it fell through. So, into Premier. It has a cover to go between the consoles and windshields, we were out last week, temps in the low 50's and stayed nice and warm behind it... As long as the throttle wasn't pushed too far ahead...

Sorry for the Hijack... MichaelB, she is all yours, again!
