One of the problems with modern auto engines is that manufacturers are going to higher compression engines to meet EPA emission regulations and improve fuel mileage.

For example, my Lexus IS250 has a 12.5:1 compression ratio that requires premium unleaded fuel. The cost of 89 octane fuel is about 12 cents per gallon and 91 octane fuel is another 12 cents. I'm just glad that my engine doesn't knock on 89 octane. My daughter's Civic SI requires the highest octane fuel we can find.

With O'Bama regulating 54 mpg averages in the future, we're going to see more higher compression motors requiring high octane, high quality fuels. But gasoline quality has deteriorated greatly in the last few years with 90/10 and 85/15. It's time to quit using ethanol and go back to 100% gasoline.

I just hope they leave marine engines alone. And, I don't want to drive a diesel Smart car.

DiLithium is only used on Star Ships like the Enterprise and not readily available.

Seeing as how we don't have starships yet (other than the Galactica - see my sig), why can't I use it on my boat? SOMEbody has to be first!!!
