Cracked fuel line question

#1 Post by robster » Sat Oct 20, 2012 4:32 am

The outer rubber coating on my fuel line has 2 /2 cracks, the inner portion of the line is not cracked and the fuel line is not leaking. Right now I've wrapped electrical tape around the cracked outer rubber portion to protect it. Do I need to replace the fuel line?
Thanks

The safe thing to do is replace the fuel line. I would replace all of it. Fuel leak equals fire, not good.

Replace the line with the new hoses that is not affected by the alcohol mix on gas. The old hoses with inner liners fall apart after a few years and pieces could get sucked into your motor. The new hoses are solid with no inner liner.

Yep. Replace your lines every 2 years. Ethanol fuel is rough on even hoses made specifically for ethanol.

Rob, E-mail Greg @ Manitou gvanwagenen@manitouboats.com and see if its under warranty. Should be under either Manitou or the motors warranty, I would think.
