The good part,

Took my boat to the dealer to try out a new prop. I damaged mine last year while driving in the dark. Anyway, He said they had a 4 blade they wanted me to try. I had my doubts but decided to try her out. Man that thing pulls this boat out of the hole quickly. I didn't lose a bit of MPH either. I don't know the diameter but it looks about the same 15 inch and the pitch is the same 17 that I had previously. I hit 40 coming back into a very strong wind. I'm now really hating that it is not summer.

Now the bad part,

I was towing back home and was stopped at a stop light. A guy comes running up to tell me I lost a seat cushion a half mile back. So I turn around and can't find it anywhere. There were 40mph gusts from the south today. Looks like I'll be buying a new one soon. This sucks. I already have to replace an expensive transducer that my dog thought was a chew toy.

Sorry to hear about the cushion,,I have a seat also that a cushion isn't fastened. I added a strap to the bottom of the cushion put the snap end of the strap to the front side of the seat base. I've heard to many stories of boaters losing cushions that don't have a fastener of some sort.

that really sucks, has crossed my mind a few times as I have 2 corners cushions that are not fastened. I'm not sure what the dealer may charge you but we had to have the material replaced on one of ours (advice: don't leave food in the seats, squirels WILL try hard to get to it). Had an upholstrey guy replace it, matched the material perfectly.....best part, it didn't cost us anything, only because he was a repair guy for a friend. But I think it would have may have been only around $50.

I've already decided to add tethers to the remaining corner cushions. Once I get the new one, same thing.

Glad that part worked out for you. I would think u are leaving some mph on the table. That boat appears to be a upper 40's low 50's boat propped correctly.

Well, I got it back tonight. It has a few minor blemishes that will be hidden when installed. But that's ok.

About my speed, I've tried several different props. The best I've gotten with optimal rpm's is 44 mph. That's what the manufacturer achieved as well. It's really a heavy boat. I'm fine with that. All I was looking for when I got her was at least 40!

Good job on getting your cushion back! There are some good people in the world!
For your top end, have you checked the engine height when running WOT? The cavitation plate should be gliding on top of the waters surface. Where are your RPM's at WOT?
I take notes every time I prop mine or someone elses boat. Just to compare prop to prop. I had 6 props for my old Manitou. Just sold them all. Now I have 4 for the Verado. Every one acts different. Gonna sell 2 of them and try a new design from Mercury, based on the Tempest Plus, they send it to me for free, so what the heck. Should have it in production after the first of the year. Its on a Flo Torque, so it will be adaptable to all outboards. I'll keep everyone here posted!

Well, I finally checked my engine height and recorded it. What do you guys think? Is it at the right height?
