I have a Garmin 431s and it works great. Installed it this year so I haven't used too much but would recommend it. Here's a pic.

Re: Going to get aGPS
I've been using a Garmin 60CS handheld for soaring flight, long car trips, and on the boat for trolling speed. Garmin customer support is very good, I check their website periodically for model specific updates which are free to download. The batteries are Sanyo's 2000mah Eneloops and are the best AA's I've found.
This is the updated version of what I have: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=161&pID=89556

Re: Going to get aGPS
I just installed a Humminbird 385ci combo GPS/Fishfinder.
Price was right and has all the features I want. GPS, programmable waypoints, speed, water temp, depth, bottom contour, etc.
Haven't had the boat out yet, so can't give any feedback, but other Humminbirds I've used have had good results.

Re: Going to get aGPS
Go to Tiger Direct to get a great deal, they sell the refurbished one's with life time map updates, I bought two from them, the first one didn't come with updates, so I bought another one for ten dollars more, than just the lifetime update would have cost me for the first one.
So read carefully and get one with lifetime updates, not all of them come with it, I wouldn't mind paying a hundred dollars for lifetime updates if it was my life time, not the GPS's
Both have been great, my brother is still using my old one, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... shed%20GPS

Re: Going to get aGPS
I have the garmin gpsmap 740s.
It is overkill, but since I boat on the Chesapeake Bay, I have to pay attention to the tides and it gives real-time tide info. I also have it hooked up to my Optimax, so I get all my engine information on it, including fuel mileage. It also has a flight recorder feature. I can transfer the data to my computer and see, on Garmin Homeport, a map of where I went and all the data from the trip. Including, speed, fuel used, water depth, and temperature, etc. I am a bit of a geek, so this, kind of stuff is cool to me.

I have a GPS on my boat, but find I use Navionics on my phone. Only cost 10 bucks to download. I still use my GPS/fishfinder for actual depth and speed, but thats about it

I'm getting the Galaxy S III on Monday, and this is going to be the first app I buy. I've heard good things about it.

I have a horizon and really like it. It has a lot of nice features and a really nice display plus it's marine specific and ok to get wet.

Too guys with the 385ci,does it have bracktracking ability,so you can retrace you route ?
Re: Going to get aGPS
Hmmm, not sure. You should be able to get the specs on their web site. ALSO, I see I made a typo...it was 239 NOT 339. And since then they have raised the price to $248...still a smokin deal.

Re: Going to get aGPS
I had a HB 798ci SI for a year and recently traded up to a HB 1197c (10" screen).
Both are fantastic units, but now I have run out of excuses for not bringing home
any fish.

Re: Going to get aGPS
I had already purchased the 385ci off ebay for $247 shipped but didn't want to make you feel bad if you had paid $339.All I could find was a "save present route or track" which I believe is the same thing.Taking some of these tributaries off the main river can get you lost quick that's why I need back tracking.ToonGuy wrote:Hmmm, not sure.
