I have been on several deck boats and have one main observation that prevents me from even thinking about them. They ride HARD.
I am soo looking forward to launching my straked triple tube next year for the first time. I want the best of both worlds but only ONE boat to take care of.

Ron Burgundy wrote:To speak specifically to lifting strakes though. The purpose is to turn a displacement hull into a planing hull. Why not just get a deck boat that already has a planing hull, and has the exact same deck space?
I also did not like the overall experience of the deckboat. The harsh choppy ride was not as pleasant as a toon and still not really ideal for the 5 year old twins with the way it rolled. Also my boat does not start to lift and plane till about 18MPH so at any speed under that, its still a displacement hull. I actually cruise at around 24MPH cause that gives me ridiculously awesome mileage while hardly pushing the motor. Anything less than that its gas hog.

It's too bad they quit making the Sun Tracker Party Barge 21 2 Log NV performance Package, as they appeared to be solid performers. Obviously they didn't sell enough of them to be profitable, or the hull cost too much to produce.

So what is the typical upgrade cost of adding strakes to a new 'toon?
