How to remove this prop?

How to remove this prop?

I am used to castle nuts and cotter pins. How do I remove this prop?

Try prying up the tangs on the washer below the nut and then turning the nut. Right tighten, left loosen.

Looks like there is a tab on the left hand side that needs to be pushed back down. With that out of the way the nut should spin off. There may be one on the right also but can't tell from the pic..

Yep, pry up the tangs and you're good to go.

I'm thinking tracker2 had actually got it right with this one.

Why would I want to bend up the locking ears on the washer when I can just flatten the tabs along the nut releasing the nut. Seems removal in this method would more easily allow reuse of the lock-washer, well for maybe a time or two anyway. :|

You want to bend down or flatten the flat tabs and then the nut will unscrew and the lock will stay in position!
