For those of you who need water, you can have some of ours. We had a lot of rain. Notice the angle of the ramp to the floating dock. :scared ImageImageImage

We could have used some over the summer!
Every other year they drain our lake a couple feet while anticipating that the winter snow will replenish it. Well, since we didn't get any snow during the 2012 winter our lake was pretty low in the beginning of the summer. A lot of people with shore docks couldn't launch or tie up their boats. I got lucky since I'm in a marina, my slip stretched out far enough.

BTW, what are the lowest temps that you get down there? I've been looking at lake Norman a lot lately.

Wow it looks like your lake is nice and full for sure. It might be nice to have extra water if this summer ends up as warm and dry as last. One other thing I noticed was the floating pine straw ! I use alot of that stuff on our landscape jobs but it cost a ton to get it here in michigan. When I get married everyone thought I was crazy for driving a regular cab truck to hilton head for our honeymoon. I brought back a full load for next to nothing !!!

It's actually not full pool but higher than normal. It's usually lower in the winter so people can work on their docks. The pine straw is about $3 85 a bale now and we use 60 to do the yard. I had to go out this am and rake some of it out of the water before it floats away. :censored

My neighbor has 4ea pine trees next to our property line. I have a yard full of pine needles. I took out the fence between our front yards and now just blow them back into his yard. When I moved in to this house we had 14 80ft+ pine trees in the front yard. I had them all cut down. I hate pine needles and pine trees. They do make nice mulch as they hold moisture and control weeds in your flower beds.

We were 2' low, which was as low as Wilson Lake goes. Look up, it's rained a bunch in the East TN mountains and we've got about 25 100' spillways rolling water into Pickwick. It's like Niagra Falls times 3, and an incredible show of water.

Now, McFarland Park is closed and the water's overflowing the banks of the Upper Pickwick.

I'm beginning to think we live on a Bi-Polar lake. Up one day and down the next.

But we love it!

Winter and Spring rains is why they lower Pickwick and KY lake 4' in the winter. East TN and Western NC mountain lakes can go up and down 30', 100' or even more.

But your lake is incredibly long, and has about any kind of water that can be found anywhere--and great fishing.
