Corner cap nav lights?

#1 Post by tuned » Sun Jan 20, 2013 10:50 am

The build continues. I have seen navigation lights occaisionally that are built INTO the two front corner caps on the pontoon deck. I cannot find these at either Perko or Attwood.

Does anybody here have these or have a link? Even if it is a 'factory' fixture, I might be able to talk them out of a pair.

I found these LEDs by Bennington. Not sure if they're in-house custom or of the shelf, but they look pretty cool.

You can order the Bennington aluminum lights from a Benny dealer. They're pretty pricey though. They're LED's by the way.

Thanks guys. I'll look into it. Btw, led's rule. If I find ones with regular bulbs, they would get replaced anyway.

Another nice looking set. I hate having more trip hazards than i need with my drunken crews. Somewhere i have seen them built IN to the corner caps. I don't need the docking lights either as i have a remote spot

Such lights have to be applied to boats with the proper curve to the corner.

My old pontoon boat has square corners, and such a fixture wouldn't work. I have to use two small corner lights.

I felt exactly the same way and I also didn't want to give up any deck space. I've seen your cabin but can't really recall the details of it's design. But in mine at least I decided to mount them higher. If you look at the photo posted below you can see them under the front corners of the roof on both sides. As far as I know they're legal mounted in this way and the DNR in Ohio hasn't objected to them either.

I thought about that Bamby. Actually our shacks are not all that different, except yours wasn't built by a backwoods farmer named Al :biggrin2
I would have to check with the locals before mounting some up that high.
Question: Do your lights 'get on' your front rails? I hate ANY light in front of me when night running.

Al as far as the navigation lights, no you wouldn't notice a trace of the red or green on the front railing. But if anyone were stupid enough to turn the docking lights on be prepared for a complete "White Out" of everything in front of you. But like you we utilize a hand held spotlight if any additional lighting is needed. But for the most part we really do "Moonlight Cruise" to traverse the river at night.
